Not entirely Mac compatible,
Amazon’s online description should be clarified. The device is described as Mac Hardware compatible. But when I found myself unable to use it, I was informed by Transcend Tech Support: “The storejet elite software is not compatible with Mac computers. We do not have a Mac compatible software at this time.”
Maybe it works with new Macs which come with appropriate software, but I could not find software to couple the Transcend with my old Tiger Mac and had to return the product and take the hit on shipping. Replaced it with an Iomega eGo, which does provide automatic back-up software for older Macs.

Good choice,
First of all i DID NOT stumble on this at Amazon. I was specifically looking for it because I got some nice reviews from my friends. I bought this for my brother and he has been using this for a few months now. No complaints, does the job and hums along softly. He uses it mainly for storage though (like putting away movies, song collections for later) so no heavy usage here but pretty impressed with his feed back.
